There's a lot of road between here and there. Enough to get used to each other's company, perhaps even start looking for excuses to prolong it.

Unfortunately, you're still getting closer to your destination.

HOW TO PLAY
  • Post your character, canon, and any preferences. Are they escorting someone, being escorted, or open to either?
  • Tag around! Decide who's going where and why they're making the journey together.
  • Pick a prompt or roll RNG. The trip can be dangerous, perfectly ordinary, or anything in between.
  • Friendship, romance, reluctant affection, and complicated attachments are all welcome.

You’re hurt badly enough that standing on your own has stopped being an option. A stranger crouches beside you, and introductions apparently aren’t going to be the first order of business.

They need to know where it hurts. Helping might mean getting an arm around you, checking beneath torn clothing, wiping blood away, or simply putting a hand somewhere and telling you not to move. You would normally have opinions about a stranger getting this close. Right now, those opinions have to compete with the fact that you need them.

There are people you know well who have never seen you like this. This person knows nothing about you and is already seeing too much.

Maybe that makes it easier to let them help. They don’t know what any of it means yet.

Names can wait.

HOW TO PLAY
● Leave a top-level with your character, preferences, and whatever else people need to know.
● Tag around.

01. LET ME SEE. They can’t do much from here. The stranger needs to get closer and see what actually happened.
02. LEAN ON ME. Getting anywhere under their own power isn’t happening. Someone else will have to make up the difference.
03. HOLD STILL. Something needs doing, and moving is only making it harder.
04. KEEP TALKING. Silence is becoming worrying. Anything that gets an answer back will do.
05. STAY. The worst may be over, but one of them isn’t ready for the other to leave yet.
06. YOUR NAME? Funny time to realize they never got that far.
07. WILDCARD. Something else happens before the names do. Pick the injury, the help, the complication, or whatever gets unexpectedly personal first.

WARNING:
CURSED!
The jack-o'-lanterns are lit, fake cobwebs hang from the doorways, and a plastic skeleton rattles whenever somebody walks past. Don't forget to grab some candy!
But among the holiday decor is a sprig of mistletoe. A little early for Christmas, isn't it? Unless we're going by big-box store timing.
Someone must've thought it would be funny to hang it at a Halloween party. Someone else thought it would be even funnier to put a curse on it.
Now, anyone caught beneath it is stuck there until they kiss. Trying to leave won't help, and the mistletoe has an unfortunate habit of turning up over people's heads when they least expect it.

Most relationships end without the rest of the world taking much notice. There are plans to cancel and belongings nobody wants to collect. Life carries on, whether you're ready or not.

Of course, that's assuming there's still a world left when the two of you are through with each other.

Everybody has a story. Unfortunately, somebody has decided they already know yours.

They've never met you, have no idea where you come from, and couldn't name a single important event in your life. That hasn't stopped them from putting together a remarkably detailed biography. Some of it might even be true.

  • Post your character, canon, and any preferences.
  • Other characters invent pieces of their backstory using whatever they can immediately observe. No actual canon knowledge required. Need an idea? Peep the prompts.
  • Correct the record, encourage the nonsense, or let them keep talking.

For Halloween  
MONSTER'S BRIDE

The old stories are very clear about monsters.

They live beyond the road. They wait in towers, forests, ruined houses, caves beneath the earth. They have claws, appetites, curses, bad reputations. Sometimes they are beautiful enough to fool you. Sometimes they are not beautiful at all.

Sooner or later, they take somebody.

That part is familiar. The mistake comes afterward.

Because the captive is supposed to spend every night dreaming of rescue. They are supposed to recoil from the hand that brings their supper, refuse the strange gifts left outside their door, look through the bars toward home and pray for hoofbeats on the road.

They are not supposed to become curious.

They are not supposed to notice how carefully the monster touches anything fragile. They are not supposed to learn the difference between its anger and its fear, or discover that the terrible face everyone else cannot bear to look upon changes when it is spoken to gently.

Most of all, they are not supposed to love it.

Now somebody has come with a sword.

How awkward.

HOW TO PLAY
  • Comment with your character, preferences, and whether they'll be the monster, the beloved, the rescuer, or some unhappy combination of the three.
  • Literal monsters are welcome, but so are curses, villains, feared outsiders, unnatural creations, dangerous people, and anyone the world has decided ought to be treated as a thing.
  • The "captivity" can be genuine, arranged, misunderstood, willing, temporary, or something the supposed captive stopped objecting to some time ago.
  • Play the beginning, the getting-to-know-you, the attempted rescue, the return, or the strange little life that comes afterward.

The Kissing Scars Meme
Despite the romanticism surrounding the emotion, it can be difficult to be loved completely — not just the beautiful parts of us, but also the sad parts, the injured parts, the hidden and less-than-pleasant parts. There are marks on us, both physical and mental, that we'd often rather forget. The mental ones can just be easier to hide. As for physical scars, they can be off of our minds some of the time, but that's exceedingly hard to do in more intimate, close moments.

Whether it's to your dismay or otherwise, your partner is not looking away and ignoring your scars. To the contrary, they're providing attention in a way most heavily associated with tenderness: kissing. It may be an accidental slip-off target, or they may be trying to show you that what you've done and who you've been don't matter to them now.

Does the gesture touch you? Make the walls come up once again because of the memories that are dredged from somewhere you'd rather no-go? A mixture of both?

The wound has long closed, yet the pains remain; these days, however, there's someone who may be willing to help you bear it.

  • Reply with the usual: canon, character, preferences, et al. You may also want to say if you're down for smut or not, since it's not a given.
  • Be sure to include what side you'd like your character to play. Mention if you can do both the kisser and the kissed.
  • Also, feel free to talk about your character's scars.
